Pakistani security forces have arrested a man identified as Ubaid Jhangir in Rawalakot, Kashmir, on allegations of spying for the Indian intelligence agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing).
According to initial reports, authorities detained Jhangir earlier today during an intelligence-based operation in Rawalakot. Officials claim that he was allegedly involved in passing sensitive information across the border to India’s RAW network.
The arrest has raised fresh concerns regarding cross-border espionage activities in the region, especially amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India over Kashmir. Security officials said that Ubaid Jhangir will undergo further interrogation to uncover potential links with other RAW operatives.
Local police sources stated that documents and digital evidence were recovered during the arrest, which are now being examined by counterintelligence units.
This development underscores Pakistan’s continued vigilance against foreign intelligence networks attempting to infiltrate sensitive areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found collaborating with hostile agencies.
