Sanzloo, Lower Dir (28 June 2025 – 23:30) – In a shocking development this evening, a group of five militants affiliated with the extremist organization Fitanah al-Khawarij stormed Government Primary School in Sanzloo Village, located in Adinzaai Tehsil of Timergarah, Lower Dir District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to reliable local sources, the attackers forcibly took control of the school premises and raised the flag of TTP over the main entrance, signaling their violent occupation.
Eyewitnesses reported that the militants entered the school compound shortly after 11 p.m., overwhelming any minimal security present. They reportedly secured all access points, effectively barring any entry or exit. The tension in the area peaked when locals observed the flag of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan fluttering from the main gate, triggering widespread alarm among residents.
Local law enforcement and security forces were promptly alerted and have cordoned off the area, initiating operations to reclaim control of the building. No official confirmation has been issued regarding casualties or hostages at this time. Nevertheless, there are reports of panic among students, teachers, and nearby villagers who remain trapped inside or have fled into the hills around Sanzloo.
A video attached to several online messages shows masked individuals patrolling the school compound under the TTP banner. Authorities are currently verifying the video’s authenticity, with its origin traced to social media platforms as of 23:30 local time.
This brazen takeover comes amid a recent surge in militant activity in the region. The government has yet to issue an official statement, but neighbouring districts have deployed additional security units to prevent further escalation.
