A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the operation targeted the reported presence of “khawarij,” a term used for members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Lashkar-i-Islam, and Jamaatul Ahrar.

“During the operation, our troops effectively engaged the khawarij location, resulting in six khawarij being sent to hell,” the ISPR statement read.

A sanitization operation is currently underway to ensure no remaining militant presence in the area.

Two civilians killed in attack on Bannu police post

The security forces reaffirmed their determination to eradicate terrorism from the country.

Meanwhile, an attack on a police post in Bannu district on Thursday night resulted in the deaths of two civilians.

According to residents, Sadiq, a vegetable vendor, and Maqsood, a medical technician, were fatally hit by bullets while passing by the Kinger Bridge police post on motorcycles.

Unidentified assailants carried out the attack.

“Both individuals were passing along the police post on their motorcycles when they were struck by gunfire from an unknown direction,” a police official reported.

Relatives of the deceased alleged that the two civilians lost their lives in a militant attack on the police post. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify the attackers.
